Graphenest S.A., a start-up incubated at Vougapark, has signed a strategic joint-venture with Lohmann GmbH & Co. KG, a global reference in adhesive technologies, to co-develop next-generation adhesive systems that incorporate graphene and meet the growing demand for electromagnetic-interference (EMI) shielding and thermal-management solutions in electronics, automotive, aerospace and industrial markets.
The partnership launches a multi-phase R&D programme, from laboratory formulation to pre-industrial scale-up: Graphenest will act as the exclusive graphene supplier, while Lohmann will be responsible for the world-wide commercialisation of the joint products.
“This agreement is a decisive milestone for the commercialisation of graphene in advanced adhesives,” said Vítor Abrantes, CEO of Graphenest.
“It is a fundamental step towards bringing graphene into real-world applications,” added Dr Eng. Bruno Figueiredo, Co-CEO of the Portuguese company.
On Lohmann’s side, Dr Ing. Ruben Friedland, R&D Director, stressed that “the cooperation will enable the use of graphene in adhesive tapes for EMI shielding.”
